Ireland Makes History, Approves Same-Sex Marriage: Stars React!

Ireland is making history! On Saturday, May 23, Ireland became the first country to approve same-sex marriage with a popular vote.

According to the New York Times, more than 60 percent of the 3 million people eligible to vote cast ballots. Earlier in the day, those against the ruling conceded defeat even before the news was announced.

“I think this is a moment that rebrands Ireland to a lot of folks around the world as a country not stuck in tradition but that has an inclusive tradition,” Human Rights Campaign director Ty Cobb told NYT.

Gerry Adams, president of the republican party Sinn Fein, added: “There are two Irelands, the elite Ireland and the hidden Ireland. And today the hidden Ireland spoke.”

Find out how Olivia Wilde, Sam Smith, Alan Cumming, and more stars are reacting below:

Omfg! Ireland! Have you done it? Is it really a YES?
